What about give your cooking a dash of psychedelic deliciousness?
Getting your daily dose of THC shouldn’t require always bong hits or vaporizers…
Here is a simple and quick way to make a pot butter in the comfort of your kitchen. This basic but successful recipe never fails to get you high.
What you’ll need:
- a pound of butter
- a medium saucepan with lid
- a two quart bowl
- a spoon
- a stove
- a fridge
- a mesh strainer
- and, of course, some marijuana
The great thing about cannabutter is that it can be made relatively quickly and be substituted in just about every recipe.
Be sure to use salted butter since it has a higher smoke point.
When figuring out the proper amount of marijuana to add to the butter we suggest erring on the side of caution. A first-timer would be wise to try only about an eighth of an ounce per pound of butter. Once you know how strongly this ratio effects you, it will be possible to adjust the amount accordingly to desired results.
Remember: the stronger the weed the stronger the butter, so plan accordingly.
Take into account that if you use the buds of the plant your butter is gonna be stronger. On the other hand, if you make it only with the leafs, it’ll be weaker.
# Step 1
The marijuana must be dry, don’t use any clippings fresh from the garden. When using B-grade leaves, let them dry thoroughly and crush them to a fine powder. Any bud material that you add should also be very dry and finely broken up.
# Step 2
Fill the saucepan one quarter full with water. Bring the water to a low boil on your stovetop then add one pound off butter. Allow the butter to melt then reduce the mixture to the lowest simmer.
# Step 3
Add the marijuana to the butter and water, stirring it very well. Cover the mixture and let it simmer for about thirty minutes, stirring often.
# Step 4
Pour the water and pot butter into the two-quart bowl and set it in the fridge. After a few hours the butter will harden on top of the water. You can simply poke a hole in the butter and drain the water out.
Now you should have about a pound of greenish pot butter ready to cook with.
Bon appetite!
IMPORTANT:
This butter is intended for baking or spreading, but do not bring the butter to a high temperature on its own. For example you would not want to sear a piece of meat or sauté vegetables using cannabutter. The high heat will burn off the THC, and leave you with a bitter and unusable product.
